Where do you really want to be in five years?
Practically speaking, where will you be living, will you have a wife/ husband? Will he or she have a paycheck too?
Will you have just started a career, working the same job the past five years?
Will you have children?
Will you have the same car or one at all?
What will you be spending most of your money on? Traveling or any children? Going for another degree in college? _________________________________________________________________________________________________ (RESPONDERS- May want to question these responses and their credibility? Or relate to them... Don't just respond: "that's great! Good Luck")
In five years I will still be living in Bethlehem. I will not be married or have any kids. I am hoping to be a successful carpenter and running my own business. I am hoping to get a new truck this month, a Ford F-150, and driving it until it dies. I will probably still be spending most of my money on fishing and hunting things.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds so practical and possible probably because of the fact that you don't have children at this time in your life. Otherwise, that car/ truck would be either a minivan or Pinto.
DeleteTo herdman- What would you think if you hired a contractor and he showed up in a minivan? Come on really!!
Deletehttp://www.woodworkingtalk.com/attachments/f2/26218d1310219726-there-minivans-big-enough-4x8-plywood-car-loaded-plywood.jpg
DeleteI am coming to build your house. herdman.
Wow.. That is pathetic!!! Ha ha..
DeleteFive years from now I will be attending College. I wouldn’t be married because I would want to have a full college experience. College basketball will be one of my main focuses. Only time will tell if I have children or not in five years. Most of my money would be in savings so I could buy a house after college.
ReplyDeleteTime is not what will tell if you have children!! DO you know what you want to go to college for? Sports Medicine, physical training? Coaching, or some other field entirely away from the sports aspect?
DeleteTime will tell! I have no idea what i want to study in school. I might study law or something that has to do with it. A sports attorney wouldn't be a bad idea. As of right now though, i am still undecided.
DeleteYou have every right to be "undecided" just be sure you want such a future and nothing will get in your way.
DeleteIn five years, I hope to be in college. The profession that I want to achieve is psychology. In order to get the full degree, it’ll probably take 8 years or more. I’m not sure where I will be as far as finances but I know I want to have a steady, decent paying job by then even though I do work now. I don’t want to have children that early because it only makes things harder. I will probably have a car and a home fit for me. Most money will be on school. I know it’ll take a lot of time and money to do the things that I want to do with my life but it’s worth it.
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't think I even knew that I wanted to go to college at all when I was in high school!! You are amazing!! Don't forget to come back and visit to take me out to eat with your classy career outfit!!

As to you planning on having both a car and a home, how do you plan to pay for both of them while attending college(which is expensive)? According to one study I read, the average college graduate has one hundred thousand dollars, or more, in debt. Much of this is in student loans, which are not erased in bankruptcy. Homes are also expensive, and so are cars. Homes and cars also take money to maintain. If, as you say in conclusion, it is worth it to you, then just keep in mind that "steady, decent paying jobs" are hard to come by in this economy, especially for young, inexperienced workers. Do you have a plan for getting into college, and a plan to get a “steady, decent paying job”? If you don’t plan ahead, you will run into more difficulties than you would otherwise.
There are scholarships, financial aid, and I will not be paying it all alone. My parents will help. As far as a car, I'll be getting one soon enough. I want to go to college far enough that I'll be living on campus. My home will follow after I am finished with college.
DeleteRemember, this is high school. I have time still.
DeleteTime, you both have, money, I can't say, but don't sign up for that credit card because you get that free T-shirt or some materialistic trick to set you in debt for the rest of your life. That, is so common.

ReplyDeleteIn five years I plan to either be enrolled in a college out of state or finish my four years of college and start my life. I would want to be living somewhere outside of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania or even out of state. I honestly do not know wheather I am going to have kids or even a wife. I guess fate will play its role when the time comes. I would want to start my career in the medical field where I have always wanted to work. As a junior in Liberty High School, I currently do not have a car but I plan to get one as soon as I find a job to pay for my car assurance. I would want to spend my money on my family and my children. I would also want to spend my money on my mother and father because they were there for me all my life. I can honestly say I have the best parents a kid could have. I would want to further my career and further my education.
ReplyDeletePlease explain this apparent contradiction:
Delete" I honestly do not know wheather I am going to have kids or even a wife. I guess fate will play its role when the time comes. "
and
"I would want to spend my money on my family and my children."
How do you spend your money on a family and children, that you are not sure that you will have?
I really do not know what is going to happen in the future. If i would have kids I would want to spend my money on them. If I had a family I would want to spend my money on the
DeleteThey medical field is amazing to go into. Also why do you want to leave Bethlehem.....do you hate it that much?
DeleteIn five years I will be living in either New York City, California, Or Houston Texas where I will be dating Olivia Chachi Gonzales. I hope to be be a famous Singer/Dancer. My main focus is to Make it big as a recording artist and become a Grammy award winning artist.
ReplyDeleteNot sure to whom to give the points for this post.
DeleteIn five year I am going to be going living in Florida on my own or in a collage. I will be going to collage or aviation school in Florida to become a commercial airplane pilot. I am going to be single and have no children I’m not planning on getting married until I get my career done and have my Pilots license. I’m going to have some kind of car to get around to work and school. I don’t know what kind of job I will have between collage and getting my Pilots license but most of the money I have is going to be use to pay for collage my car, apartment and clothes.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really good goal. Do you have any idea what college you actually want to?
DeleteWhy in Florida? Is the college you want to go there? Also what's with the pilot's license.
DeleteI think it is an amazing goal, but I too am fascinated and would lie to know what influenced you.
DeleteWhere I would like to be in five years is definitely finishing college. Five years from now I don’t want to be married or have kids, I want to experience the exciting things in life before I settle down with a family. In five years I want to be at least starting my career, which I don’t know what it will be right now, but by then I should have made a decision. I wish to travel to many places, especially Germany and Canada, they seem to be a beautiful experience. I plan on having a fairly good car, efficient and will last me awhile, I don’t have one now, but it may be the same one I get in a couple of months. I also wish to still be in a fairly good band, making some money that way and have a side job too. I hope my future goes as I see it, but things can change anytime.
ReplyDeleteGood idea in five years I want to be in collage aswell almost done or close to done. I like your idea about traveling im going to be traveling alot aswell im going to be studying to be an airplane pilot and traveling around the world.
DeleteThanks, I'm probably not going to travel for a long time because I'll probably have student loans to pay off, but it's great you share the interest. With money from a band and a side job, the loans should be paid off in little time after college. I wish to really enjoy life before settling down, you only live once.
DeleteWhere do you really want to be in five years?
ReplyDeleteIn 5 year I plan to be out at seas. I plan to be on a navy ship fixing, installing, and maneuvering complicated electrical equipment. I also plan to be moved out of my mothers house and into my own house. I would like to have a nice Toyota Tundra with my own boat. I also would like to own a Yamaha R1(Street Bike). If I could choose where I live it would be down in Florida. I would have NO kids or wives.
Understood
DeleteIn five years I would be living in Miami, Florida. I would be married to my girlfriend. I would like to start my own business for auto mechanic. I would like to have two kids. I would have a Mitsubishi Lancer. I would be spending my money on my kids and also I would be spending it on vacation.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you choose to live in Miami ?
DeleteI choose Miami because the college I would like to attend is in Florida.
DeleteAre you planning to move right after high school ?
DeleteNot right after high school but in a year or two.
DeleteSo cute how you two blogged with each other as you sat next to each other. So adventurous.
DeleteIn five years my second option is to be in college playing D-1 football. After college I hope to make it in the NFL draft, Live in a nice size home, and be known as a good football player.
ReplyDeleteLeave an autograph behind for me, but before that, change your display name here so that I know who to give the score to.
DeleteIn 5 years I don't plan on moving out of Pennsylvania itself, but I am pretty sure I wont be in Bethlehem. I don't think I will have a wife just yet, most likely a long term girlfriend, (in which I hope would be working so thats less financial stress on my part). I hope I would be on the rise into starting my career in the automotive field. I don't think I would have any children, but if I do, at the age 21 I wouldn't want more then 1. Being in the automotive field, I would like to be able to restore cars of all types, and I love cars, so I would think that I would have more then one car (for myself). I am not a big money spender, but I wouldn't mind traveling once in a while and investing money in cars and a nice home. And I would also like to be in collage studying different type of automotive fields.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of car do you expect to have?
DeleteIm glad to hear that you want to pursue your future in Auto Collision Repair. Im sure Mr. Gruschow would also be proud to hear you say that. But i also agree with you when you say you want to leave bethlehem. It really would be great to see the worlds beauties.
DeleteSeriously, there is so much more to this country, or even world for that matter.

ReplyDeleteIn five years I see myself just recently graduating college in Kutztown. I see myself very successful in my work of art. Hopefully have most of my work in a museum or in stores ready to be bought by others. I see me having a home with my boyfriend that I am currently with. I also can see myself with a child, boy or girl, raising them in my hometown New York. I see myself getting a job as an art teacher at Geneva High School. In five years I see my accomplishment and success I’ve made. I see my dream coming true in five years.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of art are you interested in?
DeleteCeramic Art which is sculpture.
DeleteShe is good too!! She just won an award for her sculpture!
DeleteIn five years all I know is I either want to be done with college and pursuing the two goal I have want to pursue right at this moment. Those goals are owning a family restaurant with my mother and being able to cook in that restaurant every now and then. Also to because a professional dancer. Even possibly traveling the world. Everything else I’m not sure about. I’ll just let the future decide where I go.
ReplyDeleteThose are very good goals. How do you plan on achieving those goals?
DeleteWell the future should not decide you should. Pick the most important goal and follow it. You can succeed because of all your hard work. All the work you do and the effort you give will let you accomplish your wish and you will get to discover the world.
DeleteIn 5 years I would love to live in a tropical hot spot. I don’t think I can say whether or not I will be married or not because I believe that, and having kid, fall place when they’re supposed to. If I do have a boyfriend, I absolutely expect them to have a job and have something going for themselves. At that time I will have hopefully finished all my schooling and be in the process of, or already working in my area of choice. Before I finish though, I will have to work as a waitress in a top dinner or hotel so I can pay off all of my school loans. Of course on the way ill have thing like my own apartment, a car, and a yourkie.
ReplyDeleteA Yourkie, so cute. But I entirely respect how you want a spouse who at least has a career! Hold to that because you don't want to be used by someone else for your hard work. Hold to your standards, plus, having someone who is ambitious is a huge plus in a relationship.
DeleteIn five years...
ReplyDeleteI hope to be in a college far from here, just to see if I can make it on my own. I want to major in neurology or neuroscience I'm not sure which yet. This isn't part of my plan but if scholarships don't work out I will most likely be spending my money on school in five years. Also I'll be saving up for medical school if I go with neurology. I don't think I'll be paying a car payment because the car i have now isn't the best but it was built to last so I think I will still have it.
I do not plan on having kids in that near future. As for a wife I don't think it's very likely ether because I have witnessed young marriages not workout before. I do in fact want all of these things in the distant future but in five years I hope that the exiting part of my future will just be getting started.
An interest in neurology is really interesting, and it seems like you really have a plan for life which is great, When did your interest in neurology begin?
DeleteWow great plan. I completely agree with you on waiting to get married especially if you plan on one of those careers
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIt's great that you have an overall plan for your near future. You seem to know what you want to do. And falvarado has the same opinion as I, stating that an interest in neurology is really interesting.
DeleteI have one of those cars that were built to last. Good luck on your neurology.
DeleteThanks everyone, and to tell the truth it is not really a plan as much as it is an idea. I have been thinking about neurology since i took psychology last semester and noticed i was more interested in the science aspect of it.
DeleteIn five years I see myself finishing college and beginning a career. I would like to come back home and find a career in law in Pennsylvania. At this time period, the chances of me having children are low being that I would only be around 21 years old, but if I were with someone at the time I would hope that together we would both have jobs and could be looking at a future together. I think most of the money that would be spent would be paying back college from loans I would need to pay back.

Your expectations are perhaps the most realistic that I have seen on this blog, You, unlike most of your peers, remembered to consider student loans in your future. Your forethought will likely be a great asset to you in life. Remember though, while paying off the student loans, to keep a savings account as a buffer for any emergency expenses, it is likely cheaper to keep some of it in a bank account collecting interest for you, while the loans collects interest for the loan agencies, than it would to pay for a emergency with a credit card.
I like how you have your future planned out in a positive way. I also feel the same way in having children. Your mind is set out just like mine. That as in paying back the college I would currently have graduated from and just hoping to enjoy life with my lover.
DeleteIf you're going to be a lawyer, wouldn't you want to work somewhere out of state? I don't mind Pennsylvania, but myself personally don't want to live here.
DeleteAfter I receive my law degree I plan to practice law in Pennsylvania because its where my family is at, if my family was at a different area I'd go there instead. I'm a very family oriented person and I'd choose to live wherever home was comfortable at.
DeleteI haven’t really figured out yet what I want to do in five years, but if everything goes according to plan… I will have graduated from college with a degree in culinary. I want to be California, with my own restaurant or working as a chef in a high-end restaurant. I really don’t want kids now, but in five years I guess everything can change. I don’t know when I want to get married; I’m just going with the flow for right now.
ReplyDeleteYou should go on Hell's kitchen!
DeleteHaha that would be fun. It would be amazing if I get good enough at cooking to be on the cooking network, or even have a coking show.
Delete*cooking
DeleteWhy aren't you in Vo-tech?

What kind of job are you looking for with your culinary degree? Also, you mention that you aren’t sure when you want to get married, but is that something you have a interest in in the first place? I find that, personally, going with the flow is method by which to be wholly unprepared for what lies ahead. It is something like trying to drive a car, without looking more than ten feet ahead, you crash on the turns, since you didn’t see them. Remember the words over one of this school’s entrances: “Thought constitutes the greatness of man.”
In five years I plan to be graduating/graduated from college and working for a video game company either as a character designer or a level tester. The college I plan on going to is in Florida but I think I might move back here when I graduate depending on where the company I want to work for is. I plan on having a degree from full sail university. I hope to still be playing guitar and possibly be in a band on the side.
ReplyDeleteI see myself in the military in five years. The reason why is because its been my dream since I was little. Also I would want to be at least a sergeant. I also see myself living on base rather than at home. I don’t see myself with a wife because it would be hard to be there for her. Also no kids for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteThis is similar to where i see myself in the future but what branch of the military would you like to fall into?
DeleteIn five year I want make sure I graduated from high school. I want to make sure I did not drop out.I want to be in my 4 year in college. I want to have my mind made up of the future career. Maybe have meet my future husband not really want kids until well married. I would be living in New York City in a condo.
ReplyDeleteIf you keep doing what you are doing now your life will be what you want it to be in the future. Everything will work out for the best, but as of right now you should start think about what you want as a career (if you don't know right now) before you go to college. If you know now college will help you farther what you want to do.
DeleteLet’s fast forward to 5 years from now; I don’t exactly know where I will be, but I do know that I want to live in Philadelphia, in a good neighborhood, with my boyfriend, and NO kids. If everything goes exactly how I want it to go, I will be in my senior year of Temple University, majoring in Sign language interpretation. I don’t know what else to say, all I’m really focusing on is moving and going to a school away from home.
ReplyDeleteWhat is Sign Language Interpretation in that it needs years at Temple to learn. You have intrigued me..
DeleteFive years from now, I will be finishing my studies in either the University of Pennsylvania or Georgetown University. I will receive my bachelors in both business and international studies. The place where I would live depends on the college I will attend. I hope to stay in Pennsylvania, but moving to a new place seems fun. I see myself starting a small business with my friend. I doubt it'll work out. Also, I don't see myself having kids at the age of 21, I think it is too early to have kids at that age.
ReplyDeleteIn five years I plan to be in the air force or finishing college. I don’t plan on having a wife or children yet. If I don’t go to the air force I plan on living in Florida and becoming a police officer. I want to have a mustang boss. I don’t know what i'll send most of my money on.
ReplyDeleteYou will spend all your money on the Mustang and the gas to fill it. (-;
DeleteIn five years i will be in FL going to college for horticulture. i will not be married or have kids in the future. I will be focusing on getting my own business and starting my own life.
ReplyDeleteWill you have an apartment of your own by this time? Why not married?
ReplyDelete
